The Senior Adults at First Baptist Church Garland are faithful, energetic, and involved in the life and ministry of the church. Each and every Sunday, they gather for Sunday School and share in a time of fellowship, ministry and Bible study. Our Senior Adults continue to be focused and compassionate about reaching people for Jesus Christ and glorifying God through their daily living.
One of our great challenges is "finishing strong" in the race of life. This is the character and desire of the folks at First Baptist. This is a great time in life to continue to invest in people and God's Kingdom and we provide many ways to give our Senior Adults the opportunities to do just that. Along with meeting each week on Sundays and Wednesdays, our Senior Adults
- gather monthly for Keenager Luncheons (complete with entertainment and great speakers),
- take day trips together (this year we went to the Arboretum, to the Christmas performance at the Meyerson Symphony Center, and to the Kimbell Art Museum and to a Taste-Testing at Starbucks, to a Ranger Game and to the Dallas Summer Musical, "Cats").
- One hundred of our folks sing in our mature adult choir, Praise Singers.
- This year's "big trip" was an unforgettable trip to the Holy Land to "Walk Where Jesus Walked".
- December 29, 2008 through January 2, 2009, we will be taking a group on a California Getaway, highlighting the Rose Parade and the Christmas Pageant at the Crystal Cathedral.
- 2009 will also bring a Spring trip to the Texas Hill Country and a Fall trip to Branson, Missouri.
- In 2010, our Senior Pastor, Greg Ammons and his wife, Lisa, will lead a "dream of a lifetime trip" to Oberammergau, Germany to see the world-famous Passion Play. This trip will include Austria and Switzerland.
We find as many opportunities as we can to be together!
The best way to get connected is on Sundays. We invite you to join us in Sunday Bible study. We have a Bible class just for you. Please stop by our Welcome Center; our volunteers will help find a class that is perfect for you.

When telling people about God's Kingdom, Jesus told stories - stories with meaning. His stories, like oranges, thrived in the light and grew out of real-life situations - many of them tough situations. They were designed not only to be remembered but to stimulate His listeners to think. Many of His stories closed with a question rather than an answer.
Bottom line: The parables of Jesus were all orange juice - liquid sunshine - each glass guaranteed to make you grow. As we walk through these parables, we will not gulp, but sip each lesson slowly and learn from the master storyteller, Jesus.
